Pastor Jason Matters
Rev. Jason Matters has served as pastor of New Vision Church of the Nazarene since July 6, 2003. Prior to that, he served New Vision as associate pastor, volunteer youth director, and worship band member while attending seminary. Pastor Jason’s spiritual gifts and strengths are in the areas of teaching, leadership, and administration. Jason graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in religion from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 1999, and then graduated with a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 2003.
Pastor Jason believes that the job of a pastor can best be compared to that of a coach. God is the “owner” of the church. The pastor is the coach and therefore works for the benefit of the “owner.” The members comprise the team. The pastor’s job as coach is to lead the team to “win” for God, and to teach and encourage every player to develop their potential to serve the team and the owner. In the end, every person discovers that, “It's not about me.” Pastor Jason uses social networking tools to stay in contact with friends, family members, and church members. These are excellent ways to learn more about him:
